Guidelines and Policy

Guidelines for submission

  1. Research Articles in Bengali, English & Sanskrit (major emphasis on Bengali) / Papers / Research Notes and original writings (within 4000 words) and Book (current and important) Reviews (1200/1500 words) falling in the category of Social Sciences are considered for publication in the Journal after pre-publication review / endorsement from the members of the Peer-Review Board. Authors may be required to revise / recast their articles within two weeks, if suggested by the reviewer and communicated by the editors. Relevance of the subject matter and qualitative standard of the articles are the only criteria for publication. Papers for publication are received in the month of June and the journal is published annually in December each year. Attempts will also be made for publication of a copy in the month of June, if required. Contributors are required to send two Print Copies of articles (signed by the author at the end) typed in Bengali Unicode (Avra – Kalpurush) font for Bengali articles and for English articles in Times New Roman in 12 points. One Soft Copy is also to be sent in word file through email to > kpdc.journal@gmail.com / A message (SMS) should be sent to the editors after dispatching the article.
  2. Title of the article, full name of the author, address, designation, institute/ organization of work and contact details requires to be attached in a separate sheet of paper, since the practice of Blind Review System is followed. Contributors must carefully check spelling, grammar, and related aspects of the texts before sending.
  3. No article published earlier will be considered for publication.
  4. Articles are considered for publication only after taking opinion of the Peer-Review Board. The decision of the Editorial Board is final in this respect.
  5. Concerned author is responsible for any opinion expressed by him/her. Publisher or / and editor of the Journal holds no liability in this respect.
  6. Tables, Charts, Graphs and Photos generally are not accepted. Such attachments are required to be sent as scanned copy, if considered exceptionally necessary for enhancing the authenticity and quality of the paper.
  7. Contributors are intimated if their articles are accepted for publication by August. Authors will be provided with a Soft Copy of the Journal in PDF mode after publication. However, they may be supplied a print copy of the journal either by post or by hand on payment only.
  8. This journal is multidisciplinary, and articles and should include the following:
    1. Title (Specific and clear):
    2. Introduction including a Brief discussion about the nature and subject matter (abstract and keywords are not necessarily required), Background of the proposed study (including brief reviews of important available works or references to the existing works) and the objectives of the proposed discussion, together with methodology / methods of adopted (or nature and sources of information- both primary and secondary), with emphasis on original sources of information.
    3. Main body of the article – to be divided into Sections and Sub sections (if necessary) with headings and sub headings.
    4. Findings, Summary, and Conclusions indicating future course of study.
  9. Word limits, In-text citations, Notes (if necessary) and References are strictly required to be followed by the authors.

Styles and Referencing

References are to be arranged in serial order following ‘intext citation numbers. Examples of citing references are given below:

Books and Monographs

In case of Single Author: Bhattacharya, Mohit. 2012. Social Theory and Development Administration. New Delhi: Jawahar Publishers & Distributors, p. 99.

In case of repeating the reference, it will be as follows: Bhattacharya, 2012: 99.

In case of more Authors: Dreze, Jean and Amartya Sen. 2002. India-Development and Participation. New Delhi: Oxford, pp.21-27.

In case of repeating the reference, it will be as follows: Dreze and Sen, 2002: pp.21-27. Shortened citations are required instead of ibid. and cit.

Articles Published in edited Volumes
